The fine print

License & privacy

Short version: the photos are free to download and enjoy for yourself, but they are not free to use commercially. And this site collects as little about you as possible.

Photo license

All photographs on this site are © Erwan Bonniot and are made available under the Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. In plain words, you may:

Download and share the photos for personal, non-commercial use: wallpapers, prints for your wall, sharing with friends. Just credit “Erwan Bonniot (bonniot.com)”.

You may not use them commercially (advertising, products, editorial sale, stock), modify or build upon them, or use them to train AI or machine-learning models. This reservation is also declared in each file's embedded metadata (EXIF/XMP, including a TDM opt-out).

Every download also carries Content Credentials (C2PA): a cryptographic signature proving the photo comes from here. Any modification breaks the signature, so an edited copy is detectable. You can check any file at contentcredentials.org/verify.

Commercial use & prints

Interested in licensing a photograph for commercial use, or in a high-resolution file or print? Get in touch and I'll be happy to discuss it. The files offered for download here are watermarked, web-sized exports; the originals are not published.

Privacy

This site uses no analytics, no tracking cookies and no advertising. The only cookie it ever sets is a session cookie for the site administrator.

When you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are sent to me by email so I can reply. They are not stored in a database, shared with anyone or used for anything else. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which may process technical data such as your IP address to tell humans from bots. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

The light planner runs in your browser. Searching for a place sends your search to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim, and the map loads its tiles from OpenStreetMap. The 3D view only loads once you open it: it then fetches 3D map data from Cesium and Google, which see your IP address like any website you visit.

Questions about any of this? Ask away.
